NAD+ is an energy supplement that replenishes the body’s fuel
NAD+ is used for energy production in cellular processes. It is a key ingredient in metabolism. It is used for cognition, energy, anti-aging, and overall metabolic health. It is commonly available as an oral supplement, but IV formulations have also become common. For regular intake, it is usually good to avoid IV when possible due to the harm caused by needles.
Details
NAD+ is a precursor for metabolic processes in the cell including the anabolism of ATP. It is processed into NADH during glycolysis. It is also used in the pyruvate oxidation reaction which is necessary for the Krebs cycle. NADH also acts as a carrier for electrons and in the mitochondria and also a carrier for protons in the electron transport chain. NADH can be synthesized by other substances like NMN. These other substances follow longer metabolic pathways and can be destroyed along the way to absorption rendering them less efficient.
