Dangerous aluminum compounds are in many everyday products
Aluminum is toxic to the human body and disrupts an array of cellular processes and signals. While it used to be a very rare substance, it has ironically become common in many products like food and personal hygiene items. A large amount of regular exposure occurs via processed foods and deodorant with specific compounds known to cause issues. With deodorants in particular, rashes have been long reported to occur with aluminum-based products. Aluminum compounds are usually used to boost the effectiveness of products that would otherwise function without them. Fortunately, there are alternatives often labeled as aluminum free. But, there is no certification for this, so items and brands should be inspected carefully.
Details
Aluminum is correlated with and confirmed to cause a range of issues including skin problems, cancers, Alzheimers, and organ issues like with the kidneys and bones. Some symptoms are related to aluminum disrupting the use of vitamin D. It is widely held that presence of aluminum in small enough quantities may not trigger noticeable effect. Dermal absorption testing has led to conclusions that products using low quantities of aluminum may be relatively safe for use even when absorption occurs. Limitations of such studies should be noted in the fact that they mostly assess noticeable, acute damage. Long term, cumulative effects still require investigation.
